Yes, You Can Have a Catholic Ceremony at Your Location

Many couples are surprised to learn that they can still have a Catholic wedding even if:

  • Your ceremony will take place somewhere other than a church

  • One of you is not Catholic

  • One or both of you have a previous marriage

  • You would like the priest to co-officiate with a rabbi or another clergy person

  • You have unique or special circumstances

How Is This Possible?

+Mike was consecrated as a bishop within an independent Celtic Rite Catholic jurisdiction—an Independent Catholic and Orthodox communion. We are not under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church or the Bishop of Rome, but we share in the same Catholic faith and sacramental life, with roots reaching back to the earliest Apostolic churches in the Celtic tradition.

In order to celebrate the sacraments, a priest must have valid apostolic succession—an unbroken line of bishops going back to the apostles. This succession, which ensures the validity of both orders and sacraments, is recognized across the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Anglican churches.

+Mike’s apostolic succession is valid and can be traced through multiple lineages—including Anglican, Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, Coptic Orthodox, Old Catholic, Polish Catholic, Celtic Catholic, and Roman Catholic—ultimately back to Christ and the apostles themselves.

Although independent, we share many liturgical and spiritual practices with the Roman Church, and we identify ourselves as part of the wider Catholic (Universal) Church.
